Rylee Jayde's Blessing and Avery's 3rd Birthday

Today we decided to bless Rylee. Ry is pretty petite and the dress my mom made didn't quite fit her, so we waited until now to bless her. Jake did an awesome job with the actual blessing and we came home for some chicken salad sandwiches. It was a fun, special day!

In the circle: Jake, Grandpa Kevin Olsen, Great Grandpa John Anderson, Cody Done, TJ Carlson, Terry Carlson, Mark Maines, Sam Olsen, (did I miss anyone??)

Because Avery's birthday is August 4th, we decided to celebrate it along with Ry's blessing. Everyone is so busy these days, that it just made sense to have it all at once.
Avery requested a "Dora" cake...while I was making it, she told me she didn't want a "Dora" cake anymore!! She got one anyway!!!

Thanks everyone who came and supported my cute girls and their milestones! We appreciate your love and support!

Avery's first "REAL" haircut

So I gave Avery a trim here and there, but this time I wanted all of my imperfections fixed and to help her hair not look so stringy. I took her into Cookie Cutters and she was SO excited! She was so excited that they were going to use a "blowdryer" on her hair (which they never did) but she did so good. She held still and felt big!

They ended up cutting about an inch, maybe a little more off and it looks much better.

New York

**Warning....this could be long!

Jake had to go to work in New York this last week, so Jaymie and I decided to tag along with him. Here are some things I learned about New York

1. New York is NOT baby friendly
2. Serendipity opens at 11:30...ish....maybe 11:39 if you're lucky
3. It was HOT, 102 with humidity is not very fun! Everyone was sooooo sweaty!
4. The subway smells like pee
5. Don't stop on the streets or people will try to hand, you things....like a homemade CD w/ marijuana in the title of one of the songs! Can't possibly be a good thing. But don't worry it's FREE, they will just ask for a donation. (apparently a donation is better than selling?!?)
After Four attempts to get our "Frozen Hot Chocolate", we were finally able to try it! MMMMM!
6. If the sign says (3) for $10, (5) for $10.99 or (6) for $10.99, that doesn't necessarily mean (3) for $10. Prices could change upon looking interested.
7. Don't stand in the walkway with a stroller, even if you are looking to purchase something in their teeny tiny store, they get ornery.
8. If the man is folding the shirts, he is folding the shirts and is not interested in selling you one
Can we say "Tourist?!"
9. If you are taking a bus tour, make sure you stay away from the stairs until they come to a stop light. It CAN be dangerous!
10. In New York, you don't really have to obey the lines of the road, you can go pretty much where ever YOU want. Don't worry about letting people in, they will just push themselves in.
11. I kind of like New York style pizza, even with the big blob of cheese dispersedly placed.
12. There are bazillions of people. Not really sure where they all come from or where they are all going, but it's CRAZY!
13. New York is so smoggy.
14. The Flight attendant coming home, LOVED Haylee. It was pretty cute. She wouldn't leave her alone.
15. Having two babies in strollers, seemed like a main attraction.
16. Flying with a baby makes going through security and lines at the airport seem non-existant! "It's as close to first class as you'll ever get"!! Which is probably true!
17. They don't recommend that babies drink the airlines hot water. What exactly does that mean?!

18. Carrying a stroller with a baby in it, up and down flights of subway stairs is exhausting...especially when you have gone to the wrong one and have to go out and around. Talk about sweaty!
19. Coke is sticky.
20. Did I mention it was HOT?!
21. There are some very beautiful people that work in the Disney Store!
22. Century 21 is the store to be at, beware it is a store that is a mad house!
23. Daffy's was pretty cool store too.

24. The Muse Hotel was very nice. They were kind enough to bring us bed linen at 11 o'clock at night.
The city of New York....crazy, crazy!

ok, Kevin!
The Girls looking out at the city....although, only think they could really see was the cement wall in front of them! ;)

Empire State Building
Rylee is looking up at the ceiling of the elevator, watching a quick 43 second movie on our way up to the Top of the Roof.

25. Top of the Rock is very expensive but is pretty cool to look out around the city.
26. New York in general is expensive.
27. Everyone is in a hurry.
28. Very large Jewish and Indian community.
29. It was VERY HOT and humid. Did I already say tat?!
30. "can you tell me where "rrrrRock-a-Center" is?!! ha ha ha!!! (Rockefeller Plaza!!)
I thought this sign was hysterical!!
31. If you don't like gay marriage, don't get gay married!! lol!
Our 'first' stop....the chocolate store!!
"If you think you are funny....then pretty much you are!!" ha ha !!

Empire State Building
Trump Tower. It kind of feels like Miller's in Utah. Trump is everywhere in New York!
This was kind of cool-this is where everyone put pictures of their loved ones they couldn't find after 9/11, it now has tiles on the fence with memorabilia of people that died.

We had to drive in silence down this road. Very humbling.

Trying really hard to cool off. We had to come off the top of the bus because the girls were miserably hot. It was so dang hot!

The infamous bull!
The subway is running underneath the freeway. Crazy.
Too cool for school!
LOVED Wicked! Could have turned right around and watched it again!

Attempting to get the stage, it was incredible, unfortunately you can't see it! They didn't want you taking pictures!
31. I love Broadway...LOVE it!
32. The Stanten Ferry DOES NOT go to Ellis Island!....so we floated on by the Statue of Liberty and that was about it....check that one off the bucket list!! :)

Rylee being her cute happy self! (sweating to death!!)
There she is, in all her green glory!!

Jaymie "gazing" into the Hudson River!!! Apparently, while we were there,  they had a sewer leak....That makes Hitch all that more funny!!

Ground Zero

The Piano from "Big"! FAO store
33. Should have bought this piano for Aves...she would have been in HEAVEN!!
34. We did experience the New York "TGI Fridays" as well as "Olive Garden"...I must say....they are pretty much the same as here!!

35. Typically, if it is 102 degrees outside, you would have the air conditioner vents pointing directly at you and blowing full force...well, in a cab it's a little different! They are all pointing to the driver! As we were driving there, I was sweating bullets...literally! and kept wiping my forehead (I know gross). I mentioned to the driver how hot it was, not to have him adjust the ac but to hand me a napkin!! ha ha ha

All in all, it was a fun but exhausting trip. Would I do it again??...not with a baby. It was too crazy and it's not baby friendly. I would like to go and just go for the weekend and go shopping and then go to shows, like David Letterman. I WOULDN'T go when it's that hot again. It was too dang hot! It was fun and I was grateful Jaymie and Haylee came along. It was definitely an adventure. I can now check that one off the bucket list!

DISCLAIMER: I know I shouldn't write this, but I'm going to anyway. It's so annoying when people complain about their weight, but I really don't want to be that person that someone hasn't seen in a while and they think or say to themselves..."Wow, what happened to her"...I know I am larger than I ever have been...these pictures are definitely an eye opener..I have a lot of work to do and no, this is not open for comments! but thank you!! ;)
